R&D

A polyurethane specialist with strong R&D capabilities

Piusys’ technology is shaping a better world. Polyurethane is used conveniently throughout our daily lives in buildings, roads, automobiles, refrigeration and freezing equipment, and furniture, and its range of applications continues to expand as a core material of modern industry.
The institute conducts new product development and testing with its in‑house research staff, while providing tailored job training, supporting domestic and overseas conferences and seminars, and offering external professional programs so that researchers can grow into global experts.

Main Research Areas

The R&D organization is structured into four specialized teams focusing on rigid, semi‑rigid, flexible foams and advanced polyester polyols. Each team develops application‑specific polyurethane systems for construction, automotive, industrial and marine fields, while jointly pursuing higher insulation performance, flame retardancy, environmental friendliness and processability to strengthen the company’s overall technology portfolio.

1.

Rigid Foam

Research on polyurethane systems with over 90% closed‑cell structure that offer excellent thermal insulation and stability.
Development of PU systems for building panels and boards, spray insulation for cold storage and refrigeration, and semi‑noncombustible insulation materials.

2.

Semi‑Rigid Foam

Research on low‑density PU systems for automotive headliners, engine hoods and outers, and engineering plastics for electronic components.
Development of semi‑rigid foam and C.A.S.E (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers) polyurethane systems.

3.

Flexible Foam

Research on low‑density, low‑VOC acoustic foams for automotive dash pads, air‑filter foams, adhesives, and heavy‑duty gasket foams.
Development of integral skin foams for office, infant, leisure and medical applications, as well as flame‑retardant, shock‑absorbing, and anti‑vibration foams for construction and industrial use.

4.

PESOL (Polyester Polyol)

Research on semi‑noncombustible and highly flame‑retardant polyester polyols, polyester polyols for LNG/LPG vessels, renewable polyester polyols, and eco‑friendly bio‑mass–based polyester polyols.
